Redesigning dock scheduling to cut congestion and delay
The context
Multi-site integrated resort. Dock operations were inconsistent, labour-intensive and hard to manage: heavy congestion and long dwell times, hours misaligned to trading, no visibility of inbound deliveries, no supplier performance measurement, and manual scheduling creating OH&S risk.
What we did
- Introduced a dock scheduling solution giving dock teams and outlets delivery visibility
- Implemented supplier KPIs — booking conformance, time-slot adherence, truck turnaround
- Redefined dock roles and workforce plans to match the new arrival profile
- Reduced and reshaped dock operating hours based on volume analysis
- Standardised processes, traffic flows, marshalling and equipment handling
The results
- Reduced congestion and 28% better turnaround performance
- Real-time arrival alerts improved communication to venues
- Fewer dock operating hours while improving service
- Stronger safety culture from predictable workflows
