Rebuilding a hospital network's supply chain from dock to ward
The context
State public health network. COVID-19 exposed sub-optimal supply chain service levels to hospitals — increased volumes running through ageing central infrastructure, putting critical clinical services to patients at risk.
What we did
- Reviewed the central warehousing and distribution model for network-wide efficiencies
- Mapped and reviewed dock-to-ward processes at major hospitals
- Analysed hospital back-of-house areas — risks, challenges and capacity constraints
- Developed a future-state central supply chain operating model
- Recommended BOH logistics improvements, engaging stakeholders across varied clinical services
